Background
Busia County faces growing challenges of misinformation that affect youth accountability, women in leadership, and civic participation. Our Mission
To empower communities in Busia to identify, challenge, and counter misinformation by promoting digital literacy, transparency, and civic engagement through verified information and dialogue.
Our Objectives
- Establish a responsive fact-checking and community engagement platform.
- Promote participatory reporting and user-driven claim submissions.
- Build Busia CEN’s editorial and technical capacity for sustainability.
- Connect with regional networks like Code for Africa’s AFCA.
Expected Results
- A fully functional community fact-checking website for Busia.
- Dozens of verified fact-checks and community reports each year.
- Trained local ambassadors and editorial staff producing credible content.
- Greater awareness and resilience against misinformation across the county.
